Brilliant! A day in the brilliant, thoughtful, self-depreciating, sharp-as-a-tack author at work...his other work. I imagine the characters are an amalgamation of flying folks from more than a day - but to write their concentrated stories packed onto one flight, in one day...whew. I have new respect for attendants everywhere...well, this one for sure. There's a few pages wherein the author describes his beautiful wife, and I was re-smitten. PLEASE, let book #2 be the extended, love story you describe so beautifully C. Russell! The world needs more of that kind of love reality to sigh about. A great read. I giggled, I smiled, I gasped...like a great cafe afternoon conversation with a dearest friend.Product details

An interested take on the day to day work environment of a flight attendant. There's only so much one can bring to the table on this subject in a non fiction book. Hense the three stars. Not a reflection on the writing pros, but the subject matter. I doubt I'll write a book about tile setting for example.
What a great read! I first learned of this book while on a flight. I downloaded it to my kindle and literally could not put it down! The author's writing style and sense of humor is contagious. I could not wait to read how he would handle the next " call light". I found myself wondering how I would react...would I be as thoughtful and caring when dealing with these passengers? This book reminds us how one person's actions can affect another person's day-a little bit of kindness goes a long way....pay it forward!
I don't fly often enough not to be stressed by the time I'm in my assigned seat. . . along side the guy who likes to read porn mags.. . Deep sigh.
This is what 'Wicked' is to the 'Wizard of Oz'. The 'flip side of flying.' Apparently I thought my experience on a flight was reality but now a flight will never be the same! As I read I always wanted to know what the next page held. The author showed wisdom and character and his verbiage had me laughing out loud sometimes, amazed at his restraint at other times and tearing up on others. All in all a good read. This shows that good manners and kindness never go out of style. I'd fly with this guy every flight.
This book interested me from the moment I began to read it before I was going to ride in a plane, something I haven't done since high school. I read some of it while I was on the plane and finished when my trip was over. I actually felt calm and comforted as I read it. There was no anger, just factual moments I could understand. My utmost thanks to you Mr.Russell.
I truly enjoyed this read. I took over a week to read this, and I did it on purpose. I didn't want the story to end. The author writes in a way that I can connect. His descriptions of incidents and events, and people on board a flight to Los Angeles are amusing, laughable, and touching. I only wish it was longer, I hated for it to end.
For Lovers of travel or humor this was a great read! I haven't physically laughed out loud this frequently at a book in years! His dry wit and colorful descriptions make the passengers Come to life and the pages fly by. I literally made myself put it down every few pages as I did not want it to end! This is a great entertainment purchase and gives very clear illustration to "a day in the life", for those that have always wondered what flying is like from the cabin perspective. Anxiously awaiting the next book Sir!!!
Having too been afflicted with wanderlust, I found this book to be so on point with a lot of the scenarios that the author details in his flight attendant life.
For years, I was an elite flyer with a well based carrier whose main base is in Chicago, however I lived in one of its high density corridors of San Francisco. Hence, from a passenger perspective, I can relate as to how he sees the "insanity" which takes place inside these metal tubes aka airplanes.
His humor entices us to read more and as his stories unfold, I can almost see it all unraveling in my own mind like a Hollywood movie. Trust me, the film(book) is a must read for anyone who is interested in travel and looking at it through 2 different lenses.
As each chapter opened, the writing style and quirkiness of the events kept me reined in to find out more, only to secretly want to be on one of his flights to experience the same things at the same time and be able to laugh or cringe in shock over the sometimes ego-centric people on board aka passengers. LOL !
So, I invite everyone to sit down, take a peek at this musing of air travel life and prop your feet up for some delicious writing!
